The Best EMS Pants Made

You could say I lke 5.11 gear
"I have tried them all and these are by far the best EMS pants made. The construction is outstanding and the fit is not like a pair of baggy BDU's like most EMS pants. These actually fit like pants; you look professional and yet have the room to carry your gear with you: provided your not one of those people who wants to use their pants for a trauma bag. PLEASE don't take these out of the line!
Snap the snaps; zip the zips and wash in Tide for darks and these and all pants/uniforms will last longer. I can see how the knee pads may not be in the right spot for everyone, pull them out if they don't work for you. you still have a great pair of pants."

EMS Pants
September 2, 2009
"I just received my 511 tactical EMS pants. I can't believe how heavy they are. I bought a differnet brand from a local store a month ago and they are falling apart. These pants are great and fit perfect. The pockets in these just won;t stop. I'm still trying to figure out what to use all of them for. I haven't had a pair of pants this great in many years and I've been in EMS for over 39 years. I'd recommend these to anyone. Thanks for a great pair of pants."

Best EMT Pants EVAR
July 9, 2009
"Title says it all. They are a bit warm, especially with the kneepads in, but they are a great duty pant. I wear them for 24 hours at a time and they seem to be holding up. Color stays great, water beads up off of them with plenty of room for the soldiers. Cargo pockets are HUGE. I keep my iphone + a large double tubed stethescope, couple pens, wound care scissors and hemostats in the left pocket. Wallet, small flip pocket notebook, pens/ trauma shears on the right side with plenty of room for extra gloves, kerlix, 4x4s... Lower leg pockets are great for a few extra pairs of gloves. Traditional back wallet pocket on the left and a deep radio pocket on the back right. Has reinforced slots on both sides of the front pockets for your pocket knife and thumbloops, so you can hang your hands without putting them in your pockets. They do come sized a bit big. They are low profile on the logo too, everyone at the station asked me where i got my pants."

Comfortable, Looks Sharp, Works Great!
October 28, 2008
"As other reviews before, These pants are awesome. The only thing I had to do was take out the knees pads (which slide right out) and hem them because I am only 5'7" tall and the shortest they had was still a bit long but it's no complaint. Trust me, it was worth it. A definite recommendation to any EMS or Fire personnel."

Best EMS pants on the market!
September 22, 2008
"I recently ordered a pair of the 5.11 EMS pants. All I can say is WOW! Lots of pockets, external stowage for my EMS shears, roll of tape, spare O2 wrench, pens, etc. After over 20 years in EMS, and countless pairs of various styles of EMS pant, Cargo Pants, I have finally found the EMS pants that beat everything hands down. All EMS professionals know that we tend to spend a lot of time kneeling, on floors, ground, back of the ambulance, crash scenes etc, and it's hard and many times very painful to the knees. I LOVE the built in knee pads. First shift I wore them, first call, I was kneeling on the side of a gravel road. During the call as I was reaching for some equipment I realized that for the first time in my life I wasn't shifting my body to relieve pressure off of my knees. I didn't feel the gravel grinding painfully on my kneecaps. The lower leg pockets are perfect for my field guide, spare gloves, and even in a kneeling postion easy to access those pockets. I tend to put my radio in my back pocket, where sometime it falls out. No longer will my radio fall out, deep back right pocket, and with it's design easy to grab my radio out of when I need it. The special EMS shear pockets, with both the velcro hook and loop and the snap keep my equipment secure, and still easy to get out and to return. If I loose another pair of shears it won't be because they fell out of the pocket. The deep cargo pockets are nice and large. I tend to keep them empty then depending on the call I stuff them with whatever I need at the time. So my first crash I was able to stuff, gauze, tape, kling, even some backboard straps in them, and there was plenty of room. I was pretty rough on them the first day I wore them, and they took it all. I believe that I will get more life out of a pair of 5.11 EMS pants than any other EMS pants I have worn before. Years ago I paid over 60 bucks for a pair of pants that I wore out in just a couple of months. The way these pants wear, I think I will be able to get a couple of years wear out of them, which makes them a fantastic bargain. I will never buy anything but 5.11 Tactical for my EMS needs!!!"

Better Than The Rest
August 26, 2009
"I am currently an EMT-I student and purchased these pants for my multiple clinical ride along. I tried on about four different brands at our local supply shop and quickly realized just how different they all are. These pants fit and hang the best of any I tried on. They do run a little big in the sizing, so I ended up having to order them online, but they arrived quickly and have proven to be great so far. I especially find the built in knee pads to be a bonus. The only fault I have found in them is that like so many other clothing manufacturers, they seem to forget about the shorter population. I need a 29" inseam and it seems nobody who does alterations wants to take on the effort of keeping the hem similar to the way it comes. So in short, even with the lack of customizable inseams from 5.11 these pants are still better than the rest!"

Men's EMS Pants
August 9, 2009
"I bought the Men's EMS Pants for my boyfriend who is a paid county Fire Fighter/EMT. He LOVES them. He is able to wear them under his turnout gear and they are also great when he's on the ambulance. They have lots of pockets for him to keep all his gear in and the removeable knee pads are awesome. He loves them. We will be buying more."

Second Pair
August 3, 2009
"This is the second pair of 5.11 EMS pants I have bought, the first ones I blew the crotch out of while trying to lift a 483 LB patient. I'd say that they've served me well, well enough to buy another pair. Would like to see a more traditional back left pocket (wallet pocket) because I sometimes have trouble getting my wallet in and out of it. Overall a great pair of pants. THANKS 5.11!"

Ok pants
July 31, 2009
"Great in comfort and dosnt wrinkle or tear. really does fade after about 20-30 washes. have even washed on light cycle and it the pants still fade. have to buy a new pair every two months or so. Love the stain resistance and lots of unused pockets, but its good to have them. love the elastic belt. maybee add some more belt loops and make Knee pads with a zipper to hold them in. nice pant havent found a more comfortable one without going to expensive NOMEX."

Need pockets? Got 'em!
July 28, 2009
"These pants are just the best! They do everything 5.11 says and more - this first week of wear I had to respond to a mess - blood and body fluids, grease and ash, and even rust! After the call those pants looked pretty bad, but a trip thru the washer and good as new. The reinforcements at the pocket corners are great for keeping my knife from wearing the fabric thin. I know I'm going to have a long and happy relationship with these pants - and my crew is going to get them too!"

Very good pants
July 27, 2009
"Great product. At first I was skeptical about spending this much on one pair of pants, but I bit the bullet and did it. I now have no regrets about spending that much!
Heavy but durable build and fabric. Good design - although I'd prefer two separated middle back belt loop instead one centered loop. Pockets are plentiful and spacious. Love the radio loop. The shirt grip is really great and effective. Have not had an issue with the fly button coming undone like others have, but I also wear the tactical belt at all times. Maybe that helps? Pants are incredibly comfy too. My only gripe is that the knee pads are too high for me (maybe should have ordered a size longer), the knee pads slip around too much (although still remain effective) and I think the pads should have been placed sightly to the outer sides so when you kneel and the legs twist around to the inside a bit, they are dead on your knees.
However, all that said I'll be buying more of these pants and can't speak highly enough of them. Free shipping just took 4 days also. Thanks, 5.11!!"

Best EMS pants
June 3, 2009
"These pants are outstanding. I work as a Paramedic in a rural area, and also at a large chemical plant. These pants can stand the abuse. They have lots of storage space and are very roomy. I can't really find any flaws with these pants."

done with ALL other pants
May 23, 2009
"My coworkers are sick of hearing me rant about how perfect these pants are. In my 911 EMS transport service in a mix of rural and urban New Mexico, these pants are the best pants I have encountered: better than Propper, better than 5.11's other tactical pants, better than Pro-Tuff. These are the pinnacle: I believe no other modern product even compares.
First, the knee pads are priceless. I never even hesitate to kneel anymore and they make chest compressions into a comfortable activity. 5.11 also made the pads bigger this year (now the same size as the TDU knee pads), even though I thought they were fine before. They're also nice for kneeling in bodily fluids or god knows what else.
Speaking of bodily fluids, the teflon coating makes blood, puke, milkshake, etc, come right off.
5.11 saw the light this year and introduced these in black, so I'm no longer "the only guy with the blue pants." Regarding the material, I just got my black pants, but the blue ones never faded, ripped, frayed, nor stained in the year I've been using them. Durable, yet comfy.
No noticeable "wash shrink" until about a year later, and even that's not significant (like it is with Propper). Also, the stretchy waist makes them comfortable to wear straight through a 48-hour shift: through duty, through sleep, through long drives, anywhere. Ordering your exact waist & length makes for a perfect fit that conforms to your body with no extra bagginess. It's like a second skin with pockets and other improvements.
I like the boot-cut cuffs because the TDU pants and others have a tendency to hang on the top my boots to make me look like an incompetent paratrooper. Also, the TDU pants would always catch the clip on the knife in my boot and pull it out, which has never happened with the boot-cut EMS pants.
The pocket arrangement is perfect for keeping all my joey gear organized and easily accessible. Plus, all the little extras like the radio loop, the double belt-loops for keys and my s-biners, the velcro/snap med pockets, and the reinforced areas make these pants ideal. They were obviously designed by experienced EMS personnel, and they thought of everything.
The only thing I would like to see is a length of 38. I'm 6'6" and the 36 rides up just a little on me, but the knee pads still line up with my knees, which is the important part (and a trait not shared by any other brand of pants I've ever had).
Kudos, 5.11! You have made the perfect pants for EMS transport personnel. I love my job and you managed to make it much more comfortable. Keep doing what you do."

"Not pleased with these pants at all. Waist snap is constantly popping. Very heavy pants will be hot in summertime. Bottom legs are wide. Order correct size not wasit size smaller. Returns took a week to credit account."
