"The shorts are great. I totally love the new cargo pockets. I use to put my magazine in the left cargo pocket lying down. It would slide all over the place. Now with the new magazine holders I can keep my magazine oriented the right way. I love them, I’ll be purchasing more in the near future."

"Nice fabric that looks good, breathes, and looks like it will wear well. Subtle styling won't attract attention but allows you to carry whatever you need. Side cargo pockets are a little smaller than I like and don't expand well with larger items (i.e. camera, gps) because the center pleats are really just for looks. Side pleats would be more functional. I like the velcro fasteners, though. The main front pockets are fine for wallet, keys and the like but the rounded bottom lets a pocket holster rotate to a less than desirable angle. I didn't think the mag pocket would be very useful but it's not bad for mags, pens, phone, etc. Same with the utility strap but I've found it useful, too. Haven't had occasion to use the huge back pockets yet. Overall an attractive, well made product."

"The fit is EXCELLENT, design is GREAT, material is good, the stitching is pretty good (had an annoying loose thread hooked around the inside button so when you undo the button, you're still hooked by the thread).
Minor points... The cargo pockets are 5" deep. There is no "hidden" cell phone/magazine pocket on the right, as there is on the Taclite Pro Shorts (there IS a flap covered one on the left). There are two less belt loops compared to the Taclite Pro Shorts - instead of two on each side, there's only one."

"I'd always considered Tilley to be the pinnacle of quality in active wear, but they'll have to step aside now, These shorts are tops! Stitching is impeccable, seams are comfortable, and the fabric is darn strong. My favorite part - the extra material at the pocket corners for my knife - the first wear point on any of my shorts. This little addition adds tons of useful life to these hard-working shorts. Sizing is right in line with the norm, perhaps just a little roomier, which is a good thing for active wear. BZ to 5.11!"

Slash Pockets

"I bought a pair of the tac pants and the shorts. For the life of me I cannot figure what the attraction is for the slash pockets and that ridiculous canvas strap across the back. Can you imagine taking these pants into the brush with a strap looped behind you? Bring back the rear cargo pockets with the flap and lose the slash pockets and canvas straps. It's not broken. Don't fix it.

"I purchased these shorts for DT training in the Summer months, and I am very happy with the quality of the materials, the features, (slash cut pockets are great) and the little details, like reinforcements on the main pockets for "clip" tools. They just need to to be an inch or two longer in the legs, and they'd be perfect"

"I did wear a pocket out on one pair of these shorts; other than that, they are the best I've ever had. There is a separate pocket for my SOG knife and also a place for my denture adhesive. I had a problem with FedEx delivery and 5.11 gave me a credit they didn't have to give. I'm a repeat customer and a big fan."

"I own four pair of these shorts and love them. But, as other people as commented, they seem to fit 'snugger' than the regular 5.11 tactical pants when ordering the same size. And, the last two I ordered had the waist button stitching give way after just wearing them once. I also had the button issue on the newest pair 5.11 pants I ordered too. A little Q.I. on these. Adding a couple of inches to the length would bring them 'into style' so-to-speak..."

"These are very well made shorts and have sufficient storage. The drag strap and slash pockets are excellent features. The fit, however, tends to be a little too tight for my personal comfort. A little looser overall fit would be a great improvement."

"I purchased a pair of these shorts when I joined our bike patrol team. They are comfortable after a long shift in the seat, the cargo pockets stay closed securely, holding my note pad, wallet, badge and misc other items in place. They fit great and look awesome, even after dozens of washes. The security of the pockets was a selling point, and the price of course."
