"I purchased this vest to wear all of my equipment under a suit jacket while working. The idea is perfect but executed wrongly. I can only use this item when wearing a fleece jacket during the winter time. I really wanted this to work, but it just didn't work for me."

"I work law enforcement at West edmonton mall in canada and i am on of the plain clothes officers i believe there could be improvement.
for example better belt straps (more like some in the rear and better release straps also there is not enought straps in the front i found when fighting with someone or when running it becomes a little hassle.
the idea is awesome very comfortable but they should also include a badge tab i wear mine for about 12 hour a day it is good for sitting and taking off.
Buying the holster for the the vest is also great I carry my glock 19 in the holster well on duty and poeple cant even tell if your looking for a good concealment vest even if there are flaws this is the best one out there"

Could be much better - especially for protection

"I purchased this for use while working protective security details with the Diplomatic Security Service, U.S. Dept of State. That means wearing a suit with all protective gear to include baton, weapon, cuffs, radio, cell phone, etc. Very nice to get some of that gear off your waist and supported on your shoulders. Also nice to have a way to take all your gear off in a contained manner if you need to drop a deuce without scrambling around and taking a half hour to suit back up.
This is a great idea, but it could be designed much better for true concealed carry of protective equipment, especially when wearing a suit. I modified my vest quite a bit for personal use. I emailed 5.11 to offer suggestions for improvements to no avail. I would love to see the product improved. I know many folks that would be interested. Hey 5.11...a great test group for this product would be the Secretary's Protective detail or Dignitary Protection Branch - hint, hint."

"I use this vest for the occasional surviellence. I like that I can keep the gear that I need concealed with me. I found the belt straps to be a hinderance, but thats just me, I cut them off. For Detectives or surviellence work you cant beat it, in combination with the back up belt system. This is just another good system that 5.11 has produced."

Great concealed vest

"I wear this vest when in plain clothes. It is great. It holds everything that I need. I also wear the vest when working as a back up dispatcher. We don't need our duty gear when we are sitting at the console, but if I need to go out into the field it is a quick way to have all my grea without having to put on the duty belt with all the keepers and such.
It would be nice if there was a badge tab feature. I put my badge through the mesh holes on the vest. I like to have the badge on the left breast, instead of on the belt."

"This vest is excellent I purchased it to do some undercover night time burglary suppression. I was able to wear it under a button down shirt, and no one ever knew it was there. I had thugs asking me for a cigarette, and never the wiser. It's construction is excellent leaving plenty of folds to stuff your slack from radio Mic's. It is also very light and breathable. It definitely gets the job done for some light recon when concealment is paramount."

"I was looking for a low profile vest that would allow me to carry some gear such as radio, taser, one glock mag and one 30-round M4 mag. Then, I saw your vest at the FLETC store in Glynco, GA and bought one The concept/price is excellent, but the velcro doesn't hold the pockets in place and the pockets are clumsy. So, for now mine is just sitting in my duffel bag until I can find better use for the vest. Too bad. Also, I wish it came with two detachable straps instead of one that are sturdier than the velcroed strap currently on the product. Thanks."

"This gear SHOULD be issued along with the Grey BDU's! . Make that clothing allowance go farther by not having to get reinforced interior pockets on your suits to handle the USSS radio kit. . If you would like to be more comfortable during your VIP support, this is the vest to get! . This vest may feel awkward at first, but, it allows the positioning of the radio kit where YOU want in, not in whichever pocket hasn't been shredded from previous VIP's or clipped onto your belt. . By relocating from the belt, you can now enter and exit vehicles rapidly and less snagging or rubbing up against greasy cables in an elevator or on other dirty things when searching. . Also keeps your suit straight and less all "jacked up" around the radio clipped to your belt, when you bend over or stoop at a MAG point. . By mounting the radio to this vest it is more secure if you have to run or are rushed [ Yeah never... ;) ], and when leaning over or looking under something (SEARCH) less of a chance of the radio falling out of your suit pocket. . You can also hang other pockets to incorporate a task oriented SEARCH kit, instead of having to lug a bag for a couple tools."

"I purchased this vest on impulse for use when I was an FTO. At first I was unsure of how it would work, but it got the job done. It allowed me dress-down and still carry the tools I need to perform my job. I could see it working well for those who do a lot of plain clothes operations in cooler climates."

"This light weight and functional vest has only one draw back for me and that is fit. It does not ride well on my body and gaps in spots. One great feature for me is that it never seems to carry odor no matter how long or hard the task."
