"The Sabre has become my Go To jacket! In any weather above freezing temps, this is the one I grab on the way out the door. 100% water proof and wind proof. I got it primarily as wet weather riding gear but it is no one trick pony! The only reason I won't rate it excellent is because the wrist closures are useless!
I do think the list price is a bit high."

not so good in a forest

"The jacket is pretty good but when I took it camping with me in a forest the smell of it never came off. I only went camping for about 3 days but when I came back I couldn't get rid of the smell of smoke and pine. Another thing is even though its says its wind proof its not actually. When I was wearing it on a ferry the wind cut right through it. I had to put on a thin hoodie to stop myself from freezing. It is however waterproof just as it says. Another major problem is the "Velcro" on the cuffs. It wont stick! even tapping it down doesn't work. I'd recommend to the people who made this jacket to put some real Velcro and not this weird stuff that doesn't do anything. And an another thing the " Velcro flag patch" doesn't come with a opposite patch to stick a flag on. I had nowhere to sew my badge too. Over all it is a pretty good jacket even if it's a little overpriced and some of it claims are bogus."

"This is Dept. Issue and has been a good selection so far. Its shell design keeps out the elements and the zippers work wonders. The many pockets are convenient, especially the fleece lined hand warmers! My only gripe is the velcro at the cuff, it can be a little finicky and sticks to the fleece in the hand warmer pockets. Overall a great jacket, I'm glad we decided to go with it."

"I have not had to wear the jacket in bad weather yet. I do notice that you can become hot, fast, while wearing the jacket. I would recommend wearing in cooler weather only."

nice looking... durability lacking

"When i first got this jacket i was very excited, it was great looking, and seemed to be the highest quality. about a week after getting it i wore it to the feild in the pouring rain where its true colors began to show. first of all i started to notice a nice trickle of water which then became a stream going down my sleeves from the velcro patch attachments. the "velcro" wristbands became separated from the rubber part because the glue was apparently not waterproof. on the bright side it did dry out very fast, and the zippers maintained their waterproof state. all in all i still use the jacket as long as its not raining too much. too bad because that is what i was looking for when i got it."

"This is a great jacket with great fetures and great fit. When I first wore this jacket an LT from the SO was so impressed by it he insisted that I had gotten it from the military, had to dissapoint him and tell him "no it's 5.11"."

"Very comfortable, love the pockets, and amazingly waterproof without the rain coat feel. Only place they could improve is the velco closure on the sleeves - they don't like to stay fastened (but the elastic there more than does the job on its own). Highly recommended!"

"The Sabre Jacket is a great lightweight cover. It's only has one fault,the Velcro at the wrists NEVER stays closed. Fix that issue it will keep you dry even in a downpour. No insulation means the cold will transfer right to you, but think of the Sabre as a heavy weight windbreaker with great pocket placement. Overall, thumbs up."
