The best coat I've ever owned

"I bought this coat in black a couple years ago just for personal use. I wore it for 1 winter when I used to work security and I was hooked. This is THE warmest coat I've ever owned, topping any professional skiing coat I've ever had. When I became a cop, I loved the coat so much that I convinced my Chief to let me dump my dumb nylon-ish issued duty coat and wear this. I showed it to him, and he liked it so much he bought them too. All the pockets are awesome, I keep all the gear I normally keep in my uniform shirt pockets in them, and still have room for basically an entire extra set of duty gear inside it if I so wanted.
The pull out panels are awesome too, I had them screen printed in subdued white/grey with my department's name. I put subdued grey american flags on the shoulders, and when I pull out the panels at work, it looks great. I just tuck the panels back in their pockets when I'm off duty and I have a regular coat with some flags on the shoulder.
The fact that you can separate the inner and outer layer and wear them separately is awesome too. The fleece is great for on and off-duty during the fall and spring, and the outer shell is great to have on those not-so-cold, but rainy or drizzly days.
I've had this coat for 3 years now and wear it pretty much everywhere when I have the chance and I've yet to have anything go wrong with it. IF, and only IF it ever wears out, I'm buying another one immediately."

Zipper Failure

"I've been a 5.11 fan for a few years now, but the zippers in these jackets were very disapointing. The outer jacket works well, was designed well, and the fleece is good by itself. But there are issues. Bought 4 jackets for the team and was forced to return two and fix a third due to zippers failing."

The Parka that puts out a Fire

"I love this parka I wear it on and off duty. I live in the Northwest and experience all types of weather and now emergency uses for my parka. During an off duty visit to a local casino I heard a call of fire and responded being first on the seen I found a chair fully ablaze. With patrons and security personnel looking on I removed my parka and covered the chair extinguishing the fire. It ruined the parkas interlinear but the outer shell held and enabled me to put out the fire. It’s my new hero and I can’t wait to replace it."

Fantastic jacket

"I bought this to replace my old (15+ years) jacket, and it exceeded expectations in every way. On most occasions in the Bay Area I wear just the outer shell, and like others, I wear the liner off-duty. I have found that even in the worst weather you can move around very easily and not overheat like you would with other jackets that don't ventilate like this one does. The vest is also great, especially for working accidents at night."

"I first bought this model then I bought the 5-1. My wife decided she would keep the 3-1 in the car at all time. Although it is almost a Raincoat for her since I bought XL size. It is less weight than the 5-1 I bought later on. Still if I don't have my 5-1 I have no problem wearing this one. Is extremely confortable, warm, not as HOT as 5-1 but it will defenetly keep you dry and warm. While the 5-1 will keep you dry and HOT. unless you offcourse take the liner out. So with my 3-1 and 5-1 I actually have like 8 ultra COOL jackets. Will not change Brand at all. Just like the the rest of my closet. 5.11"

Best Jacket I've Ever Owned!

"I don't normally give any product a 5 star rating, but this jacket truly deserves 5 stars on all counts. The design and execution are flawless - and I've owned lots of mountaineering and sailing jackets over the years. My 5.11 served as a sailing jacket for a week coastal cruise and performed outstandingly in rain and salt spray off Newport, RI and up to Martha's Vineyard. Nothing got through and the clean design did not hang up on my PDF or harness. My only suggestion is that the jacket be made in Safety Orange for sailing. Can't say enough good things about this product!"

"I replaced a very chilly Columbia Bugaboo for this short version 3 in 1 Parka and was amazed at how much warmth was introduced. I wear this jacket in all foul weather conditions, and purchased the short version for winter steelhead fishing. Incredible fit, beautiful detail, very high quality for the price. The color was exactly what I had anticipated, and the combination of colors between jacket and liner continue to draw positive comments. I now own two as I was so impressed."

Great Cold weather Coat

"The 3-in-1 parka was an excellent purchase for use in our unpredictable Colordo climate. I found the comfort to be better than any other uniform jacket or parka I've ever used. I'm definitely able to kep dry and warm even in temperatures reaching 20 below zero for extended amounts of time. "I purchased this as a personal replacement for my 10 year old winter coat, and could not be happier with it. Not only is it warm, waterproof, and comfortable, but the functionality of this 3-in-1 Parka continually surprises me as I discover new pockets. "I have used the 3 in 1 parka for over a year and have found it very versitale. In the Southwest the weather can change in a heart beat and this parka allows you to be ready for anything while carrying just one piece of equipment. The pockets for carrying gear and weapons covertly are great."

"This Jacket is great due to its outstanding multifunctuality. You can wear just the fleece (very comfortable, great for off-duty), just the Jacket without the fleece (great for warm but windy weather), or both for chill weather. The Jacket has countless Pockets, some of them hidden, which makes "organizing" your stuff easy and efficient. All in all, this Jacket "system" has come in handy both on and off duty."
